Goliardo Loureiro 2012 Bodegas Forjas Del Salnes
Goliardo Loureiro is a red wine from Spain produced by the Forjas del Salnés winery in the Rías Baixas appellation of origin. Forjas del Salnés is a small family business that since 1995 has seen the collaboration between Rodrigo Méndez, a local expert, and Raúl Pérez, one of the most important oenologists in Spain, to create wines of great personality and very high quality. Goliardo Loureiro is made from 100% Loureiro, an indigenous grape that has been practically forgotten in recent years, from old vines planted near the sea. The grapes are destemmed and cold macerated, then the wine is fermented in steel containers and temperature controlled for 12 months in 225 litre French oak barrels of 3-4 passage. Goliardo Loureiro is a red wine from a land of white wines where it is possible to find interesting red varieties such as Loureiro. Deep ruby red in colour, it expresses a nose of aromas of black fruits (ripe plum), and notes of undergrowth. The taste is powerful, very mineral and fresh, with a balanced finish.
