Amarone della Valpolicella 2017 Musella
Musella's Amarone della Valpolicella 2017 is a majestic expression of the winemaking tradition of Valpolicella, located in northeastern Verona. This full-bodied, structured red wine is the result of careful winemaking that respects biodynamic practices, which the Musella winery follows with dedication. The vines used are Corvina (45 percent), Corvinone (40 percent), Rondinella (10 percent) and Oseleta (5 percent), grown in espalier style on three different hillsides: Perlar, Palazzina and Monte del Drago. The soils in these vineyards vary between limestone with iron red clay and a tufaceous-clay mix, contributing to the complexity of the wine.
After a late harvest in late September, the grapes are dried in a ventilated room, losing more than 35 percent water and concentrating the sugars. Soft pressing of the grapes takes place in February, followed by low-temperature fermentation and a long maceration, which allows maximum extraction of the fruit. The wine then matures in French oak tonneaux and large barrels for 12 months, and is then further aged in bottles for 8 months before release.
Musella's Amarone della Valpolicella 2017 shows an intense garnet red color. The nose reveals a complex and enveloping bouquet of ripe red fruit, black cherry, fig and sweet spices such as cinnamon and chocolate, with subtle notes of green pepper. On the palate, it is rich, powerful and enveloping, with well-balanced acidity that partially masks the high alcohol content. The finish is long and persistent, with pleasant hints of black cherry and molasses. This Amarone represents a perfect synthesis of power, elegance and warmth, faithful to tradition but with a modern twist.
