Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva 2016 Musella
Musella's Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva 2016 is a Veneto red wine of extraordinary intensity and structure, the result of careful biodynamic farming in the heart of Valpolicella. Made from Corvina and Corvinone (70%), Rondinella (20%) and Oseleta (10%) grapes, this wine represents the essence of the area's terroir and winemaking tradition.
The grapes come from vineyards located on limestone soils with iron-red clay from the Il Perlar and Palazzina localities and medium-textured soils with clay and tuff from Monte del Drago. After a manual harvest between late August and mid-September, the grapes are dried for four months in a ventilated room, losing 35 percent of their weight and concentrating the sugars. In January, soft pressing and low-temperature fermentation take place, followed by a long maceration. Aging takes place for 24 months in oak barrels of different capacities, and the wine rests for an additional 12 months in bottle before release.
Musella's Amarone Riserva 2016 shows a deep, bright garnet red color. On the nose, it offers a complex and enveloping bouquet with notes of morello cherries, cherries in spirit, blueberries, bark, humus and oriental spices. On the palate, it is full, deep and velvety, with a fine and noble tannic texture. Its enveloping softness and perfect balance make it an extraordinarily satisfying wine. This Amarone is ideal to pair with meat dishes, aged cheeses and even high-quality dark chocolate.
