Barbaresco 2014 Massucco
The Barbaresco 2014 Massucco is a pure Nebbiolo that embodies the elegance and complexity of this renowned Piedmontese wine. Sourced from the Barbaresco region’s calcareous marl and sandy soils, the vines are cultivated using the Guyot system, with a yield of 80 quintals per hectare, optimized through summer thinning to ensure superior grape quality.
After a gentle crushing and destemming process, the must ferments in horizontal vinifiers with batonnage in stainless steel, enhancing complexity and structure. The wine then undergoes a meticulous aging process: 24 months in stainless steel, followed by an additional 24 months in French oak barriques, and a final 4-month bottle aging period.
The result is a wine with a delicate garnet red color and orange reflections, indicative of its aging. On the nose, it reveals persistent and aromatic notes of violet, rose, tobacco, and spices. The palate is harmonious and smooth, with a well-integrated tannic structure and remarkable depth.
Versatile in pairings, it complements rich pasta dishes like tagliatelle and risottos, as well as spiced meats, braised dishes, game, stews, and roasts. It also pairs well with polenta, fried foods, and boiled meats, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a refined and age-worthy wine.
