Barbaresco Asili Vecchie Viti 2014 Roagna
The Roagna winery, now in its fifth generation, continues to produce its wines in full respect of the Langa tradition in the same way that founder Vincenzo produced his labels more than a century and a half ago. As a result, Barbaresco Asili is made using the same techniques as back then, production methods that are almost unobtainable elsewhere today, with spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts and very long macerations, up to 3 months, to ensure the best extraction from the berry and to preserve the best of the Nebbiolo grape variety.
The Nebbiolo grapes from which Barbaresco Asili is made come from the cru of the same name in the commune of Barbaresco, where the Roagna family owns just under a quarter of a hectare cultivated with respect for nature, among the rows we find bushes of wild mint, field beans and flowers that keep company with vines over 50 years old. The soil of marly-calcareous origin gives the Nebbiolo grapes great structure and a truly elegant tannic texture.
Roagna Barbaresco Asili Vecchie Viti is a Piedmontese red of great structure and complexity; it is garnet-colored in the glass with an intense bouquet of red fruits, roses, violets and tertiary aromas of tobacco and spices. In the mouth it is elegant and full-bodied, with a fine tannic texture.
One of Italy's greatest red wines.
