Barbaresco Paje 2011 Roagna
This 2011 Barbaresco Pajè perfectly reflects Roagna's production philosophy because it is a traditional wine but made with an eye always turned to innovation. The "Pajè" is produced with pure Nebbiolo grapes from a single historical vineyard, which belongs to Roagna family since 1953.
The quality of the grapes is very high thanks to the presence of limestone in the soil and to the age of the vines which is about 40-50 years old. The fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts and takes place in large wooden barrels, with maceration on the skins for about 2 months and a half. This is followed by aging in large neutral oak casks for 5 years.
Barberesco "Pajè" has a ruby red color with garnet red reflections, on the nose it has an intense and complex bouquet of spicy and balsamic notes of licorice, dried flowers, ripe cherry and hints of tobacco. The sip is powerful and elegant, austere as per tradition, balanced and persistent.
