Barbaresco Roncagliette 2019 Olek Bondonio
The Barbaresco Roncagliette is without doubt the most interesting and representative label from Olek Bondonio. This wine comes from the Roncagliette sub-zone, one of Barbaresco's oldest and most important crus: an area that has gone down in history thanks to Angelo Gaja, who owns the Sorì Tildin and Costa Russi vineyards in Roncagliette, vineyards that have allowed Barbaresco to go down in history.
Olek's vineyard is located just below his Cascina Berchialla, in a relatively cooler zone compared to its neighbours, which makes it possible to obtain more elegant and feminine Barbaresco, characterised by a distinct balsamic note. Spontaneous fermentation is carried out in cement vats with maceration on the skins for about 50-55 days including spontaneous malolactic fermentation on the skins, and then ageing for 22 months in large casks.
The Roncagliette Barbaresco 2019 by Olek Bondonio expresses an elegant ruby red colour to the eye. The nose is intense and complex, opening with aromas of ripe and jammy red fruit, followed by a nice handful of tertiary aromas reminiscent of leather, sage, toast, star anise, cloves and tobacco. The olfactory picture is completed by evident balsamic and menthol notes. In the mouth, the taste is full-bodied, energetic in its tannic texture and long in persistence.
