Adriano Marco e Vittorio Barbera d'Alba 2023
The Barbera d’Alba 2023 by Adriano Marco e Vittorio is a vibrant and authentic expression of its terroir, crafted from vineyards located in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio (Alba) at 300 meters above sea level. The 30-year-old vines grow on gray marl soils with sandy layers, producing a wine with remarkable freshness and intensity.
Harvested by hand in early October, the grapes undergo gentle pressing and destemming, followed by spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 24°-25°C. After about a week, the wine is racked and undergoes natural malolactic fermentation, then stabilized at cold temperatures before being bottled in April, where it continues aging for about 9 months.
It displays a bright ruby-red color with cardinal reflections. The nose is fresh and fruity in its youth, evolving into blackberry and jam aromas with aging. The palate is full-bodied, lively, and fresh, with a vibrant acidity that enhances its drinkability.
Ideal pairings include onion soup, medium-aged cheeses (such as Ossolano, Taleggio, and Bettelmatt), and beef tongue in sauce. For a more adventurous experience, try it with creamy salted cod or Moroccan-style couscous, and even 100% dark chocolate for an unexpected delight.
Best enjoyed young, served at 16°-18°C in a large glass to enhance its aromatic expression.
