Barbera d’Alba Superiore “Pujina” 2021 Lanzarotti
The Barbera d’Alba Superiore “Pujina” 2021 by Lanzarotti is a refined expression of Barbera, combining freshness and structure in a beautifully balanced wine. Made from pure Barbera grapes, sourced from 20-year-old vines, it thrives in a clay and sandy soil, which enhances its finesse and aromatic complexity.
The vinification follows traditional methods, with fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures and 8 days of submerged cap maceration, ensuring optimal color and aroma extraction. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barriques, a mix of new and second/third-use barrels, adding depth and character.
In the glass, it reveals a deep ruby red color with purple highlights. The nose is expressive and layered, featuring black cherry, ripe plum, and wild berries, intertwined with spicy notes and hints of vanilla from the oak aging.
On the palate, it is warm, full-bodied, and velvety, with a perfect balance between acidity and smooth tannins. The long, spicy finish showcases subtle notes of black pepper and licorice, adding complexity and elegance.
With its aging potential of over 10 years, the Barbera d’Alba Superiore “Pujina” is an excellent choice for lovers of structured red wines. It pairs beautifully with braised meats, grilled steaks, game, and aged cheeses, making it an outstanding selection for fine dining experiences.
