Barbera d'Asti 2021 Garesio
Garesio winery's Barbera d'Asti is a red wine of great personality, made exclusively from Barbera grapes from the winery's vineyards located in the Castelnuovo Calcea area, in the heart of Monferrato.
The viticulture adopted by the Garesio winery for the production of this Barbera d'Asti is characterized by the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly cultivation techniques. The vineyards are cultivated with the utmost attention to the quality of the grapes, thanks to the practice of Guyot pruning and the selection of the healthiest and ripest bunches.
Vinification is done in the traditional way, using the best technologies to preserve the varietal purity of the wine without overdoing it, but also without losing its essence. After the grapes are harvested, they are destemmed and crushed, then alcoholic fermentation is started in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Maceration lasts about 10 days, during which the must is continually stirred and remontaged to achieve a good extraction of tannins and color. Malolactic fermentation then takes place in oak barrels, where the wine matures for about a year, acquiring the right complexity and structure.
The result is an elegant and refined wine, deep ruby in color, with intense and complex aromas of ripe red fruits, spices and hints of licorice. In the mouth it is smooth and enveloping, with soft tannins and good acidity that gives balance to the palate. The finish is persistent and harmonious, with a slight note of bitterness typical of Barbera d'Asti.
Barbera d'Asti from the Garesio winery is a wine that lends itself well to pairing with meat dishes, especially game, and with aged cheeses. It is recommended to be served at a temperature of 16-18°C, after decanting for a few hours. This wine has great aging potential, reaching its maximum expression 5-7 years after harvest.
