Barbera d’Asti Superiore Sansì 2012 Scagliola
Barbera d’Asti Superiore Sansì by Scagliola is a wine with great personality that embodies the character and tradition of the Piedmontese territory. Sourced from the vineyards surrounding the San Siro chapel, this Barbera stands out with its intense dark red color, featuring subtle brick hues. The winemaking follows traditional methods: maceration and fermentation in steel tanks at controlled temperature last for about 25 days, followed by optional malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels (50% new and 50% one-passage), which adds complexity and structure.
On the nose, Sansì offers a wide and consistent bouquet with aromas of ripe fruit, cocoa, spices, and vanilla. On the palate, it is dry, robust, and rich, with remarkable persistence, making it a wine of great character. With an alcohol content of about 15%, it pairs perfectly with red meats, roasts, game, and aged cheeses. Thanks to its excellent aging potential, this wine can evolve over time and improve further.
The name “Sansì” honors the San Siro hill where the winery is located and the chapel dedicated to the saint. Combining the local tradition with the intense flavors of the wine, this bottle represents the authenticity and quality of the Asti hills.
