Barolo Serralunga d'Alba 2005 Fontanafredda
Barolo Serralunga d'Alba from Fontanafredda is a red wine made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Serralunga d'Alba area in the heart of the Langhe region of Piedmont in Italy. The vineyards from which the grapes come are located at an altitude of about 300-400 meters above sea level, in clay and limestone soils characteristic of the area.
The grapes are hand-picked in small boxes and carefully selected to ensure only the best bunches. Fontanafredda's production philosophy is based on the use of sustainable cultivation techniques, respecting the environment and the biodiversity of the area. In addition, the vines are cultivated using traditional methods, such as Guyot pruning, in order to ensure superior grape quality.
After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the winery and undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel for about 15-20 days. Afterwards, the wine is transferred to French oak barrels, where it matures for about 24 months, acquiring depth and complexity.
Fontanafredda's Barolo Serralunga d'Alba has an intense ruby red color with garnet highlights. On the nose, notes of wild berries, cherry and plum are perceived, accompanied by hints of spice, licorice, tobacco and leather. In the mouth, the wine is full, elegant and persistent, with soft tannins and a good structure that makes it suitable for aging.
