Barolo 2016 Giovanni Rosso
Barolo 2016 Giovanni Rosso is a great Piedmontese red wine produced in the Langhe region with 100% Nebbiolo grapes. It is made according to the ancient traditions of the Langhe, i.e. it is the result of blending grapes from various vineyards located in Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo and Castiglione Falletto.
Barolo Giovanni Rosso is produced as it used to be, before the Burgundy influence of vinifying the grapes of the various cru separately took hold in the Langhe, the winemakers used to vinify all the grapes together in a single label representing the winery.
Fermentation takes place using indigenous yeasts present in the skins, it is carried out in large cement tanks with maceration on the skins for 25 days before maturing for at least 18 months in 50 hectolitre oak barrels.
The Giovanni Rosso Barolo is one of the most representative Piedmontese wines of the Langhe, in the glass it has a beautiful ruby red colour with garnet reflections, the nose is intense and with a beautiful complexity. It goes from hints of fruit such as blackberry and cherry to finer, floral sensations such as violet, spices, and even a perception of star anise and liquorice. In the mouth the wine is consistent with the nose, more balsamic and fresh than on the nose, with great structure and an enveloping but always fresh sip. A wine that never tires.
To drink now, but to keep in the cellar even for many years.
