Barolo Arborina 2017 Elio Altare
Barolo Arborina is the synthesis of Elio Altare's production philosophy. Lower yields per hectare, maturation in barriques instead of the traditional large casks, separate vinification for each cru are just some of the innovations introduced by Elio Altare upon his return from his trip to Burgundy.
Arborina Elio Altare is the synthesis of these innovations, it is produced with Nebbiolo grapes coming from Cru Arborina, in the commune of La Morra, from vineyards dated 1948 and 1989, cultivated with the least possible human intervention. Alcoholic fermentation, started by indigenous yeasts, takes place in stainless steel rotary fermentors at controlled temperature with a maceration in skins of 4-5 days, after the spontaneous malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 24 months in used French oak barriques.
Barolo Arborina has a beautiful intense ruby red color with garnet red reflections, on the nose reigns fruity and floral notes accompanied by hints of spices and tobacco. In the mouth is warm and elegant, with a good intensity and a very velvety tannic texture. A wine produced in few bottles, ready to be drunk right away or to be aged in cellar for many years.
