Barolo Cerretta 2018 Giovanni Rosso
Barolo Cerretta 2018 is an intense, austere and elegant red wine produced by Giovanni Rosso that fully expresses the terroir of the area from which it comes. The Cerretta Cru has been owned by the Rosso family since 1920, has been replanted twice and is in a strategic position because to the south it is covered by an area of woodland that creates a microclimate particularly favourable to the development of vines.
The historic Giovanni Rosso winery is located in Serralunga d'Alba, in the heart of the Langhe, extends over about 10 hectares under vine and is now run by Giovanni's son Davide, who has shown talent and intuition in producing authentic wines of the highest quality.
Barolo is the king of Piedmontese wines and this label faithfully expresses all its characteristics: fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, with maceration on the skins for 28 days, and ageing takes place from 18 to 36 months in large oak casks from the Forest of Fontainebleau.
Giovanni Rosso's Barolo Cerretta 2018 shows a ruby red colour with garnet highlights. The nose expresses a complex and deep bouquet that opens on notes of ripe forest fruit, hints of rose and dried violets, balsamic and spicy hints. The sip is structured but elegant, with well-blended tannins.
