Barolo "Cerretta" 2017 Magnum Giovanni Rosso
Giovanni Rosso's Barolo Cerretta is a great expression of this typical Piedmontese wine, it is produced with Nebbiolo grapes grown in the homonymous cru in Serralunga d'Alba. Here vineyards are located on marly calcareous soils at 360 meters of altitude with an East/South-East exposure. Vineyards are property of the Rosso family since 1920 even though the vineyard was replanted for the first time in 1984 and for the second time in 2000.
Harvesting is done by hand and only the best grapes are used for the production of Cerretta Barolo, once arrived in the winery they are destemmed and gently crushed. The must obtained is fermented in cement tanks with the use of indigenous yeasts for about 4 weeks with daily pumping over. Aging takes place in large French oak casks.
Giovanni Rosso Barolo Cerretta shows in the glass a beautiful ruby red color with garnet red reflections, the nose is ample with hints of ripe fruit, berries, violet and dried rose which give way to balsamic and spicy hints on a background of leather, tobacco and Mediterranean scrub. In the mouth is an austere Barolo, with a rich and deep taste, great structure, enveloping tannins with an excellent freshness.
