Barolo La Serra 2008 Marcarini
The Barolo La Serra 2008 by Marcarini originates from one of the most prestigious historical areas, featuring soils low in organic matter but rich in minerals and trace elements. These soils give the wine excellent structure, savory notes, and well-balanced tannins. The unique microclimate, with gentle ventilation of fresh and dry air, further enhances the elegance of this Barolo.
Compared to the nearby Brunate, the grapes in La Serra ripen slightly later, resulting in particularly refined and generous wines with an intense aromatic bouquet. Fermentation takes place under temperature control, with a long submerged cap maceration lasting at least four weeks. The wine then ages for two years in medium-sized Slavonian oak barrels (20-40 hectoliters). Staying true to traditional winemaking, the wine is neither clarified nor filtered before bottling.
Tasting Notes: It displays a garnet-red color with ruby highlights and slight orange nuances. The bouquet is ethereal, fresh, elegant, and persistent, featuring aromas of violet, rose, licorice, and sweet spices. On the palate, Barolo La Serra offers a long and intense aromatic finish, with a balanced structure and silky tannins.
Food Pairing: This Barolo pairs beautifully with structured meat dishes such as braised beef or roasts, as well as with aged cheeses. It is also ideal as a meditation wine.
