Barolo Le Coste di Monforte 2019 Piero Benevelli
Barolo Le Coste di Monforte is made with Nebbiolo grapes from the vineyard of the same name located in the commune of Monforte d'Alba, in the heart of the Barolo territory. The Le Coste vineyard is located at an altitude of about 350 meters above sea level with variable exposures ranging from southeast to southwest, the terroir is composed of white marl and clay soils very rich in minerals, perfect for growing Nebbiolo.
The vineyards are cultivated according to organic farming principles, with low yields per hectare and no use of herbicides or pesticides, to obtain grapes of the highest quality.
Vinification takes place with traditional maceration on the skins for about 30 days, in stainless steel tanks with floating caps for better extraction of color and tannins. The Barolo then matures for 24 months in 25-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels.
Barolo Le Coste di Monforte 2019 has a deep garnet red color. The nose expresses notes of ripe plum and cherry accompanied by hints of rose and violet. In the mouth it is an elegant but less powerful wine than other expressions of Barolo, with light tannins, marked acidity given by the richer clay soil and a long, elegant finish. A Barolo of extraordinary minerality that well expresses the terroir from which it comes.
