Barolo Monprivato 2005 Giuseppe Mascarello
Barolo Monprivato is a fine Piedmontese wine produced by Giuseppe Mascarello. It is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes from the winery's historic vineyard: the Monprivato cru, in the commune of Castiglione Falletto.
Long vinification and aging in large casks are the distinctive traits of Mascarello's production, where the utmost attention is paid to each step of production, in order to obtain the highest quality of grapes and wines: fermentation is traditionally carried out for 20/26 days with emerged cap, then the wine is aged in Slavonian oak casks for about 30 months.
Barolo Monprivato is intense garnet red in color, it has a complex nose of ripe fruit and spicy and floral aromas. The complex sip reflects the terroir, with a nice length, ripe tannins, moderate acidity by Monprivato standards, but good length and persistence.
