Barolo Perno 2017 Elio Sandri
Elio Sandri's Barolo Perno 2017 is a fine red wine produced in the Piedmont region of Italy using grapes of the Nebbiolo variety from vineyards located in the Perno area in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba. These vineyards are cultivated on limestone and clay soils, facing southwest at an altitude between 250 and 500 meters above sea level.
The grapes are grown following the principles of sustainable agriculture, which involves the use of natural techniques to maintain soil and plant health, limiting the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Grapes are hand-picked in small boxes to preserve the integrity of the fruit, carefully selected and transported to the winery for vinification.
The winemaking process for Barolo Perno 2017 involves fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for about 25 days, followed by maturation in Slavonian oak barrels for at least three years. Afterwards, the wine is bottled and rested in the cellar for at least one year before being marketed.
Elio Sandri's Barolo Perno 2017 is a deep ruby wine with garnet highlights. The nose has notes of red fruit, such as cherry and raspberry, combined with a spicy aroma of black pepper, cinnamon and cloves, with hints of leather and tobacco. In the mouth it is powerful and structured, with robust tannins and balanced acidity. The aromatic persistence is long and leaves an aftertaste of ripe fruit and spices.
