Barolo Riserva Magnum 2015 Vietti
Vietti's Barolo Riserva 2015 is a red wine produced in the Langhe region of Piedmont, in the commune of Barolo, from Nebbiolo grapes sourced from Vietti's estate vineyards located in the Castiglione Falletto and Barolo subzones. The vines have an average age of more than 30 years and are grown using the traditional Piedmontese method, driven in alberello and pruned short to contain yields.
Vinification takes place in concrete tanks where the wine ferments for 3-4 weeks at a controlled temperature. This is followed by aging for at least 38 months in Slavonian oak barrels. Thanks to this long aging, the wine acquires great complexity and smoothness.
On the nose, the 2015 Barolo Riserva shows notes of red fruits, violets, underbrush and spices. In the mouth it is powerful, with silky tannins and an acidic freshness that balances the wine's great body. Flavors of cherry, raspberry, licorice and cinchona are found. The finish is very long with balsamic notes of eucalyptus and menthol.
This is a Barolo of great class and elegance, suitable for aging, which best expresses the character of Nebbiolo and the Barolo terroir. Ideal pairings are braised meats, stews, game and aged cheeses.
