Beaune 1er Cru "Les Grèves" White 2017 Caroline Morey
The Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves Blanc is produced by Caroline Morey, one of the most talented winemakers in Burgundy. It comes from the Premier Cru vineyard of the same name located in the southern part of the town of Beaune.
The Chardonnay vines, with an average age of 35 years, are trained in Guyot and benefit from a terroir characterized by limestone soils that give the wine a pronounced minerality.
The yield per hectare is kept to 45hl/ha. After manual harvesting and careful sorting, the whole grapes undergo gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place in barrels and maturation continues for 16 months in used barriques, with lees stirring in the initial phase.
The wine has a pale yellow straw color with brilliant reflections. The bouquet is fine and elegant, with aromas of white flowers, citrus, peach and minerals. On the palate it is fresh and sapid, with a good structure and a pleasant saltiness and lingering finish. A refined and age-worthy wine, perfect with noble fish, shellfish and light cheeses.
