Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Rouge 2017 Domaine Joseph Drouhin
Domaine Joseph Drouhin's Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Rouge is a red wine produced in the cru of the same name in France's Burgundy wine region.
The Clos des Mouches cru is located in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune, on a terroir composed of a mix of clay, limestone and marl. The vineyards face southeast and enjoy excellent sun exposure.
Domaine Joseph Drouhin follows a sustainable growing philosophy, with the goal of preserving soil and plant biodiversity. The grapes used to make Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Rouge are 100% Pinot Noir, a varietal known for its ability to express the characteristics of the terroir on which it grows.
Vinification is done in the traditional way, with temperature-controlled fermentation in wooden barrels and maturation in oak casks for about 14 to 18 months.
Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Rouge has an intense ruby color, with purple highlights. The nose reveals notes of ripe red fruit, spices and toasted wood. In the mouth it is elegant and complex, with a good tannic structure and a long aromatic persistence. This is a wine of great balance, which pairs well with red meat dishes, game and aged cheeses.
