Bianco "La Salita" 2022 Rabasco
The White "La Salita" by Rabasco perfectly embodies the character of the Abruzzese people: hospitable, generous, and straightforward. It is paradoxical that Iole Rabasco, the winemaker of the winery she founded, is actually of Lucanian origins. Perhaps it is for this reason that she has managed to truly leave a strong imprint on her wines and cultivate native vines, drawing extensively from the local farming tradition. Combining elements derived from organic and biodynamic practices, with a focus on both the valorization of the territory and the health of the plants and grapes, the results have been exceptional, yielding high-quality products.
"La Salita" White is made exclusively from Trebbiano d'Abruzzo grapes. The grapes all come from the vines of the "La Salita" vineyard, between Loreto Aprutini and Pianella, whose name implies the steep slopes where the plants find their home. The northeast exposure helps develop a certain level of acidity, while the soil alternates between layers of clay and limestone. Fermentation takes place without temperature control in open vats to encourage oxygenation, and the maceration period on the skins is short. The final refinement is carried out in fiberglass containers before bottling, without the addition of sulfites.
Rabasco's "La Salita" White contains the Abruzzo sun, shining between mountains and sea, evident from its very intense and deep golden color. The bouquet embraces notes ranging from ripe yellow fruit to dried fruit, with slightly balsamic touches of resin and pungent aromatic herbs. Once tasted, there is a sense of fulfillment from a very rich and intense sip, endowed with a unique personality and great pleasantness. This white wine pairs exceptionally well with both raw and cooked fish dishes and white meats. Because, sometimes, simplicity is the best answer to any need."
