Bianco "Sivi" 2021 Radikon
The Bianco "Sivi" 2021 by Radikon is a complex and multifaceted orange wine made from Pinot Grigio grapes, uniquely interpreted by the Radikon family. The story of this legendary winery in the Collio wine region began with Stanko Radikon, a pioneer along with Josko Gravner, and continues today with his son Sasa, who has given his own touch to the wines while maintaining a commitment to natural and artisanal winemaking.
The Pinot Grigio grapes come from vineyards around the town of Oslavia, with vines about 30 years old rooted in soils rich in ponca, a special type of Eocene marl typical of the Collio that imparts a pronounced minerality to the wines. The harvest is done manually, and after destemming, the grapes are placed in truncated conical oak vats for spontaneous fermentation on the skins, which lasts between 8 and 14 days. The wine then ages for 18 months in large oak barrels, followed by an additional two months of rest in the bottle. The "Sivi" undergoes neither clarification nor filtration, and no sulfur dioxide is added at any stage of the winemaking process.
In the glass, the Pinot Grigio "Sivi" presents an intense copper color, almost mesmerizing, that immediately captures attention. On the nose, it offers a surprising and unconventional complexity, with aromas ranging from bitter orange peel to oriental spices, from ripe peach to penetrating ethereal nuances.
On the palate, the "Sivi" reveals itself to be full and enveloping, with a rich structure and lively rhythm, balanced by well-integrated tannins and a balsamic freshness. It is a startling and eclectic nectar, capable of astonishing with every sip, with a very long persistence that leaves a legacy of intense and complex sensations.
