Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2019 Georges Roumier
Georges Roumier's is one of the most renowned and sought-after historical Domaine in Burgundy, and the 'Bonnes Mares' Grand Cru is among its most important labels. The Domaine, whose historical headquarters is located in Chambolle Musigny, owns 1.39 hectares of this prestigious vineyard located between the appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Morey Saint Denis.
Of the total 15.05 hectares of Bonnes Mares, the largest portion is located in Chambolle Musigny, north of the village and Les Fuées, and only 1.52 hectares are in the Morey appellation, south of Clos de Tart. In this area, red soils and white marls merge, giving the wine softness and fruitiness, and at the same time elegance and minerality. In the portion of this Grand Cru owned by Domaine Georges Roumier, there is a higher percentage of white marl, a particularity that Christophe Roumier tends to enhance through separate vinification of grapes from different soils, blended before bottling.
Precision and the desire to reflect the different types of terroir in their authenticity, augmented by the choice to follow biodynamic farming methods, are the strengths through which Domaine Roumier continues to maintain its reputation in Burgundy. The wines of Domaine Georges Roumier are identifiable by their precision, finesse and persistence and are pure, authentic expressions of their different terroirs.
This 2019 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru is no different: a Bonnes Mares that is more floral and mineral than the other wines of the appellation due to the influence of the white terroirs, it is a fine wine of great elegance and persistence that, like all the bottles from the Domaine, has a great aptitude for ageing. A rare pearl of Burgundy that only those fortunate enough to possess will be able to experience in its fullness upon reaching full maturity.
