Bourgogne Chardonnay 2020 Domaine Anne Gros
Bourgogne Chardonnay 2020 is a fine Burgundy wine produced by Domaine Anne Gros. First produced in 1996, this wine represents an experiment for Domaine Anne Gros, which decided to try its hand with Chardonnay in a Pinot Noir land. The grapes of this 2016 vintage come from a newly acquired parcel (2016).
The wine is aged for 12 months in 500-litre barrels (30% new oak). Anne Gros's Bourgogne Chardonnay 2020 expresses a luminous straw yellow colour to the eye, while the nose is composed of a rich, chameleon-like bouquet of white peach, apple, pear and honey, plus notes of toasted hazelnuts conferred by the ageing in wood. The palate is rich and intense, balanced by a nice dose of freshness and savouriness.
The end result is a balanced and drinkable wine that can be paired with fish and meat in white sauces, quenelles, foie gras... An experimental pairing with fresh truffles or even sweet spices would be interesting.
