L'Equilibriste Rouge 2020 Domaine de la Cras di Marc Soyard
The Equilibriste Rouge 2020 from Domaine de la Cras by Marc Soyard is a 100% Pinot Noir Cuvée cultivated using biodynamic methods. Originating from vineyards planted in 1983, a 5-hectare plot in Coteau Dijonnais, on clay-limestone and stony soil, once thriving but now surrounded by the Gobi Desert. The winemaking process is natural and input-free: whole-cluster fermentation, semi-carbonic maceration, and 6 months aging in barrels, 10% of which are new.
This balanced and fresh wine presents a complex nose with notes of small red flowers, floral nuances like violet, and subtle ethereal and undergrowth hints. On the palate, the balance between firmness and softness is excellent, with an acidic edge making it a smooth and inviting drink, urging you to finish the bottle in 10 minutes. Marc Soyard's wines are notable for their stability even 24 hours after opening, evolving over time without losing integrity.
Marc Soyard's philosophy centers on respecting the wine and non-interventionist winemaking, incorporating organic and biodynamic farming practices. The Equilibriste Rouge, with its clear ruby hue, offers notes of red fruit, sour cherry, and spices on the nose and palate. Perfectly paired with grilled duck breast, grilled pork, or braised beef.
The story behind this label is unique: the Cuvée 'l’Equilibriste' was conceived for a circus festival near Dijon, producing around 200 bottles. The young Marc Soyard is gaining global recognition, and his reputation is poised to soar. The intense ruby color and aromatic bouquet dominated by fragrant red fruits like blueberry and blackcurrant characterize this wine. Expansive in the mouth, wrapped in soft tannins that caress the palate, it concludes with a persistent finish enriched with elegant coffee nuances.
