The Bourgogne Rouge 2021 by Ghislaine Barthod is a refined example of the vinicultural excellence of Burgundy. Produced in the renowned Domaine Ghislaine Barthod, which shares facilities and agricultural practices with Domaine Louis Boillot, this wine reflects meticulous attention and a passion for traditional viticulture.
The Pinot Noir grapes come from vineyards located at the edges of the prestigious Chambolle-Musigny appellation, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, renowned for its world-class Pinot Noir. The vines are carefully tended with sustainable agricultural practices, including plowing and pruning, with particular attention during the summer to green harvesting and defoliation on the north side of the vines. After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed, and fermentation occurs in stainless steel using only indigenous yeasts, ensuring a natural and terroir-respectful vinification process.
The aging lasts 18 months in small oak barrels, with 20% new wood, without fining or filtration, preserving the wine's purity and complexity. In the glass, the Bourgogne Rouge 2021 presents a bright and intense ruby color. On the nose, it expresses a complex bouquet of ripe fruit, dried fruit, and delicate flowers, accompanied by a subtle mineral note.
On the palate, the wine is ample and generous, with fine and well-integrated tannins that provide structure and elegance. Bright red cherry flavors emerge with surprising fruit clarity, offering a harmonious and pleasant sip.
