Chablis 1er Cru 2021 Domaine Joseph Drouhin
Domaine Joseph Drouhin's Chablis 1er Cru is a fine white wine produced in France's Chablis wine region in northern Burgundy.
The grapes used for production come from some of the best Chablis Premier Cru vineyards, selected by Domaine Joseph Drouhin for their unique location and terroir. The vineyards are located on limestone and clay soils, on hillsides facing northwest and southeast, at an altitude between 150 and 300 meters.
Domaine Joseph Drouhin's philosophy is to preserve soil and plant biodiversity through sustainable cultivation and reduced use of chemicals. The grapes used to make Chablis 1er Cru are 100% Chardonnay, a varietal known for its ability to express the characteristics of the terroir on which it grows.
Vinification is done in the traditional way, with soft pressing of the grapes and temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel barrels. The wine is matured in wooden barrels for 12-15 months to achieve greater aromatic complexity.
Domaine Joseph Drouhin's Chablis 1er Cru is straw yellow in color with greenish highlights. Notes of citrus, white-fleshed fruit and minerals are perceived on the nose. In the mouth it is fresh and savory, with good acidity and a long, mineral finish. This is an elegant and complex wine that pairs well with fish dishes, shellfish, fresh cheeses and mushroom dishes.
