Chambertin "Clos de Bèze" Grand Cru 2021 Domaine Bruno Clair
Domaine Bruno Clair's Chambertin “Clos de Bèze” Grand Cru is an outstanding Pinot Noir made from vines planted in 1912, 1974 and 1987. The vines cover an area of 0.9802 hectares and are rooted in a clay-limestone soil, which contributes to a distinctive mineral complexity. The southeast orientation of the vineyards, located at an average altitude of 280 meters, ensures optimal sun exposure, which is essential for the perfect ripening of the grapes.
The vinification of Chambertin “Clos de Bèze” Grand Cru involves the use of 30-50% whole clusters, with maceration ranging from 10 to 15 days in wooden vats. This traditional method allows the best extraction of the tannins and aromas characteristic of Pinot Noir. The wine is then aged for 18 to 20 months in oak barrels, about 40 percent of which are new, adding complexity and depth to the wine.
From an organoleptic point of view, Chambertin “Clos de Bèze” Grand Cru has a deep red color. On the nose, it offers an intense bouquet of black fruits, such as blackberry and black cherry, enriched by spicy and earthy notes. On the palate, the wine reveals silky tannins, extraordinary length and impressive complexity. The structure is elegant and well balanced, with long-lasting aromatic persistence. The minimum recommended aging period is 7-8 years, during which time the wine develops further complexity and depth.
This wine is ideal for accompanying red meat dishes, game and aged cheeses, enhancing flavors with its elegance and intensity.
