Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Chatelots" 2017 Ghislaine Barthod
Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Chatelots" 2017 is produced by Domaine Ghislaine Barthod with 100% Pinot Noir grapes from the Premier Cru vineyard of the same name. "Les Chatelots" is located in the heart of Chambolle-Musigny, one of the most prestigious villages of the Côte de Nuits. The soil is composed of limestone marls with clay that give elegance and finesse to the wines. Southeast exposure and an elevation of 250-290m asl complement the terroir.
Vinification takes place with soft destemming of the grapes, spontaneous fermentation in open oak vats without temperature control. Maceration for 15-20 days with daily pumping over. Aged for 18 months in 25% new barriques and one to two years for the remainder.
Intense ruby red color. The nose opens with notes of small red fruits such as raspberries and strawberries, plums, cherries under spirits. It also presents floral notes such as violet, rosehip. A hint of subtle spice such as pepper, licorice and turmeric. Fresh, refined, elegant sip, great balance between softness and fine tannins. Very long and persistent finish with fruity returns. Great finesse and elegance, typical of Chambolle-Musigny.
In short, a wine of amazing elegance and finesse from one of the most prestigious Premier Cru in Burgundy. The perfect expression of Pinot Noir in the Chambolle-Musigny terroir.
