LOUIS ROEDERER
Louis Roederer: prestigious champagnes since 1776
The Champagne Maison Roederer was founded in 1776 in Reims under the name of "Maison Dubois Père et Fils", it was only in 1833 that Louis Roederer inherited the company from his uncle and baptised it with the name by which we know it today.
It is thanks to Louis' vision that the company has become a major player in the world: against the grain of the times, Roederer began buying up vineyards while everyone else was buying grapes. A firm believer that the soul of a great wine lies in the soil, he concentrated all his efforts on work in the vineyard.
The Maison Roederer has almost 240 hectares in the three best crus of Champagne: Montagne de Reims, Côtes des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne. The quality of the Crus, combined with the company's organisation, allows the birth of the fine and elegant Champagnes that we know today.
But there is one name that has made the Maison Louis Roederer truly famous throughout the world: Cristal. The Cristal cuvée was created to satisfy Russian Tsars Nicholas I and Alexander II, who were great lovers of Roederer champagne. In just a few years, the Cristal champagne became an icon of the House worldwide, making the company a legend in the world of Champagne.
The other cuvées skilfully created by the Roederer family, Brut, Rosé or Demi Sec champagnes keep up the name of the Maison, becoming the official supplier to various noble families around the world.
