Champagne Cristal 2002 Louis Roederer
Cristal is undoubtedly one of the most famous Champagnes in the world and the 2002 cuvée does justice to its name and fame.
The Champagne Cristal cuvée is vinified only in great vintages, when the ripening of the grapes is perfect and every piece of the puzzle of a vintage, rains, sun and wind, is set in the right place. The 2002 was a late vintage with a hot summer, it resulted in elegant and fresh Champagnes.
The Cristal 2002 is a blend of 55% Chardonnay and 45% Pinot Noir, with a dosage of 8 g/l and was aged in bottle for 10 years before disgorgement and a rest period of another 8 months in bottle.
It expresses at sight a beautiful golden color with luminous reflections and a fine, numerous and persistent perlage. The nose expresses a powerful and complex bouquet of ripe yellow fruits, citrus fruit peels (candied orange) and slightly toasted dried fruit. Then a note of honey and chalk for a soft and generous sip, balanced by a good dose of minerality and sapidity.
Champagne Cristal is a great classic in which maturity and freshness are harmoniously integrated and forged by time.
