Champagne 1er Cru "Vignes de Pierry" 2016 Tellier
Tellier's 2016 Champagne 1er Cru 'Vignes de Pierry' is an elegant cuvée that embodies the craftsmanship and tradition of the Champagne region. Composed of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Meunier, this Champagne reflects the perfect harmony between two distinct yet complementary grape varieties.
The grapes come from vineyards located in the village of Pierry, in the renowned Les Rocherets and Corrigot. The unique terroir, characterised by soil composed of 50% limestone and 50% flint, gives the wine a distinctive minerality and complex structure.
Harvesting is done manually, with careful selection of the grapes to ensure only the best fruit. After the harvest, the grapes are subjected to a direct pressing, selecting the first musts that are then aged in barriques, demi-muids and foudres. The wine rests for 8 months in wood, developing depth and complexity, followed by ageing on the lees for at least 40 months in the cellar. After disgorgement, the wine rests further for 3 months.
During the vinification process, a partial malolactic fermentation is carried out, avoiding heavy clarification and filtration to preserve the integrity of the wine. Disgorgement takes place with a liqueur vinified and matured in fût, adding an extra layer of finesse to the final product.
To the eye, Champagne 'Vignes de Pierry' has a brilliant golden colour, enlivened by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, it offers a complex bouquet with notes of citrus fruits, green apple and delicate nuances of toast and almond. On the palate, the balance between freshness and creaminess is perfect, with an elegant minerality leading to a long, harmonious finish.
This Champagne is a perfect expression of Pierry's terroir and Maison Tellier's oenological mastery, making it an excellent choice for special occasions and high-level gastronomic pairings.
