Description

Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru 2015 Domaine Pierre Damoy

Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru from Domaine Pierre Damoy is a wine of extraordinary refinement that embodies the soul of Gevrey-Chambertin, one of the most renowned wine-growing areas of northern Burgundy. This wine is produced exclusively from selected Pinot Noir grapes from the prestigious Grand Cru appellation of Chapelle Chambertin.

The terroir on which the Chapelle Chambertin vineyards are located is characterized by clayey-limestone soils with a high presence of limestone and marl. This unique combination gives the wine extraordinary complexity and remarkable aging ability. The vines, which are between 40 and 80 years old, are cultivated according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, with particular attention to the health of the soil and the balance of the viticultural ecosystem.

Domaine Pierre Damoy adopts cultivation methods that respect the environment, avoiding the use of herbicides and making economical use of phytosanitary treatments. The objective is to obtain healthy and ripe grapes, which fully reflect the characteristics of the terroir. The harvest is carried out by hand, allowing for a careful selection of the grapes and preserving their integrity during transport to the cellar.

The vinification of Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru follows a traditional and artisanal approach. After delicate destemming, the grapes undergo a long cold maceration to optimally extract the aromas and noble tannins present in the skin. Fermentation occurs with the use of indigenous yeasts, giving the wine a unique personality and greater expression of the terroir. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, part of which is new, for a period of between 18 and 24 months.

The Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru from Domaine Pierre Damoy is a wine of extraordinary complexity and depth. On the nose, it reveals a myriad of aromas ranging from ripe red and black fruits to spicy notes, with floral and mineral nuances that intertwine harmoniously. In the mouth, the wine is elegant and structured, with silky tannins and notable freshness. The concentrated flavors of fruit, spice and minerality combine into a harmonious and persistent whole, leaving a long finish that invites further exploration.

PIERRE DAMOY

Domaine Pierre Damoy is an absolute standout on the Gevrey-Chambertin scene, with a 100-year history behind it that has seen five successive generations at the helm of the family winery. Currently, it is Pierre, grandson of the namesake progenitor, who leads this reality with passion and expertise.

The real strength of Domaine Pierre Damoy lies in having the largest plots within the renowned cru Clos de Bèze, a good 5.4 hectares. The grapes from these over-seventy-year-old vineyards give rise to Barolos with the structural power typical of the appellation, ennobled, however, by excellent concentration, intensity and silkiness.

In the vineyard Pierre follows the principles of sustainable viticulture and does not intervene except for the minimum necessary in the cellar, to preserve the soul of each parcel. The musts ferment separately,Aging then about 15 months in up to 80% new barriques.
