Chardonnay Cope-Wiliams Vineyard Romsey Macedon Ranges 2019 Joshua Cooper
Josh Cooper is perhaps one of the most talented Chardonnay producers in Australia at the moment. The grapes to produce the 2019 Cope-Williams Vineyard Romsey Macedon Ranges Chardonnay come from a single vineyard located on the outskirts of the Macedon Ranges town of Romsey, on a plain just across the ravine from Doug's Vineyard.
Cope-Williams was planted in 1982 and the vines are 490 metres above sea level on deep, free-draining red basalt soil. Not irrigated since 1988, this site offers fruit of great intensity and incredibly fine balance.
It is a Chardonnay with a pure style, concentrated and savoury like all of Josh's wines, which focus on freshness and minerality rather than fruit power. Bright straw yellow in colour, Joshua Cooper's 2019 Cope-Wiliams Vineyard Romsey Macedon Ranges Chardonnay expresses aromas of green apple and lemon on the nose, hints of toasted hazelnuts and distinct mineral aromas, for a fresh sip that ends in a savoury finish.
