Châteauneuf-du-Pape "La Reine des Bois" 2021 Domaine de la Mordorée
"La Reine des Bois," an epic cuvée of Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Domaine de la Mordorée, embodies the essence of winemaking greatness. This historic wine stands out for its density and beautiful concentration, with aromas of ripe fruit and surprising power on the palate.
A true work of art, composed of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Counoise, and Vaccarèse, whose vines rise on certified Organic and Biodynamic soils, embracing the characteristic Plateau de la Crau, rich in clay-siliceous soils dotted with smoothed pebbles.
Vinification follows Organic and Biodynamic methods, with indigenous yeasts and limited use of sulfites, accompanied by eraflage, foulage, and a long maceration, which can last up to 30 days, all under strict temperature control. After this phase, the wine rests, with 20% in barrels and 80% in tanks, taking on a sumptuous dark ruby hue. On the nose, suggestions of red and black fruits, violets, licorice, evolve into leather and truffle notes.
On the palate, it's an enveloping experience, with a concentrated, unctuous texture and an extremely long finish, rich in fruit and licorice. Perfect paired with red meats, saucy dishes, game, and soft cheeses.
