Description

Chateauneauf du Pape Les Vieilles Vignes 2017 Domaine de Villeneue

Chateauneauf du Pape Les Vieilles Vignes 2017 is a French red wine from the Rhone Valley produced by Domaine de Villeneue. It is made from a blend of 70% grenache, 16% mourvèdre, cinsault, syrah and clairette grapes, from plants with an average age of 60 years from a vineyard of about 8.5 hectares and cultivated according to biodynamic farming principles.

The grapes are harvested by hand and then selected three times, first in the vineyard and then in the cellar. The must ferments for about 20 days, in cement barrels with natural yeasts, while the refinement on fine lees lasts 18 or 24 months. 90% of the wine is always fermented in cement barrels and the remaining half in cement barrels.

The 2017 Chateauneauf du Pape "Les Vieilles Vignes" from Domaine de Villeneuve is a rich, full-bodied red. To the eye it expresses an intense ruby red colour, while the nose offers aromas of red flowers with spicy and earthy notes. The taste is taut and at the same time structured, soft with silky tannins, balanced with a fruity and floral finish.
