Chenas Les Perelles 2020 Famille Dutraive
Les Perelles Chénas is one of the four wines from the Dutraive family's négociant project, created in response to the devastating storms that hit Fleurie in 2016, causing a 90% loss in yields. Although cultivated by family friend Paul-Henri Thillardon, this wine carries the unmistakable Dutraive signature, with its fresh fruit character and energetic style.
This organic Chénas is made exclusively from Gamay grapes, sourced from 50-year-old vines in the "Les Perelles" parcel. This lieu-dit, located at 220 meters above sea level with a southwest exposure, features deep, stony soils composed of ancient alluvial deposits, imparting great aromatic complexity and a well-balanced structure.
The nose opens with fresh red berry notes, such as tart cherry and cranberry, intertwined with peony and aromatic herbs. On the palate, the wine is juicy and refreshing, with lively acidity enhancing the pure expression of fruit. Semi-carbonic maceration in concrete vats lends an airy and immediate aromatic profile, while aging occurs 100% in fiberglass tanks. The wine is unfiltered and unfined, with only a minimal addition of sulfur before bottling.
Best served slightly chilled to fully enjoy its vibrancy and balance.
