Chignin Le Jaja 2019 Domaine Partagé Gilles Berlioz
"Chignin Le Jaja" is a beautiful version of Jacquère produced by Savoy master Gilles Berlioz and his Domaine Partagé. It was in 2016 that Gilles and Christine decided to call themselves this, underlining how fundamental the concept of sharing is to their work. In particular, this label is among the most emblematic of Domaine Gilles Berlioz: one of the wines that have contributed to the reputation it enjoys today.
Chignin Le Jaja is made from pure Jacquère grapes, the most widespread white grape variety in Savoie. Although it is a grape that is not particularly prone to ageing, in the hands of Gilles Berlioz it is capable of producing wines of great complexity, able to age a few years in the bottle. The vines are about 30 years old and grow on steep clay-limestone slopes.
Domaine Berlioz's 'Jaja' cuvée is a Savoy white wine animated by an incredible liveliness, personality and finesse, characteristics that have helped to shed new light on a wine region that has been undervalued for years. Chignin Le Jaja 2019 seduces the eyes with an intense straw yellow colour.
The deep, multifaceted nose expresses biting mineral and citrus notes, softened by elegant floral notes that after a few minutes pave the way for mouth-watering white fruits. The sip revolves around a remarkable freshness and savouriness, balanced by the juiciness of the fruit and an interesting bitter finish. A surprising Jacquère, try it to believe!
