Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore 2018 Cataldo Calabretta
Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore 2018 is a red wine from Calabria produced by the Cataldo Calabretta winery using natural methods. It is made from 100% Gaglioppo grapes from vineyards over 40 years old, from one of the most vocated terroirs in the whole region, which is represented in an intense and authentic way by this very label.
The company works according to organic farming methods, which prohibits the use of chemicals both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Fermentation is spontaneous and takes place with maceration on the skins for a fortnight, followed by 10 months of refinement in cement tanks and at least 7 months in the bottle.
Cataldo Calabretta's Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore 2018 has a deep garnet red colour, typical of the grape variety. The nose offers a complex bouquet that ranges from fruity aromas of ripe cherries and morello cherries to carob, liquorice and violets. The taste is deep and austere, with an important tannin typical of Gaglioppo, although it maintains a great elegance and refinement.
