Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2019 Georges Lignier
Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2019 is a fine red wine from Burgundy produced by Domaine Georges Lignier. The Pinot Noir grapes come from the renowned "Clos de la Roche", the most important Grand vineyard in the Morey-St-Denis appellation in Burgundy, so much so that writer Clive Coates referred to Clos de Roche as "the most elegant of Morey's Grand Crus".
The vines are over 60 years old, the altitude of the vineyard varies from 270 to 300 metres, and its soil is extremely rocky with excellent drainage, largely limestone, and in some places is very shallow.
The wine offers a complex bouquet of cherry, strawberry and raspberry aromas enriched with spices. The sip is broad and deep, enveloping with its red fruit flavours enriched by balsamic and mineral notes, dried flowers, spices and undergrowth. Powerful and tannic, this wine will also require a minimum of five or six years of ageing to express itself at its best.
