Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2021 Domaine Bruno Clair
Domaine Bruno Clair's Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is an extraordinarily elegant white wine made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. The vines, planted in 1976, cover an area of 0.3361 hectares and are rooted in a clay-limestone soil, which imparts a unique and distinctive minerality to the wine. The vineyard is southwest-facing and situated at an average altitude of 325 meters, providing perfect sun exposure and promoting optimal ripening of the grapes.
The vinification of Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru involves fermentation in stainless steel vats over a period of 2-3 weeks. This process helps preserve the purity and freshness of the fruit. Next, the wine matures for 18 months in oak barrels, about 20 percent of which are new, giving the wine aromatic complexity and refined structure.
On organoleptic analysis, the Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru shows a bright golden hue. The nose offers an extraordinary aromatic expression, with a wide range of aromas from yellow fruits and citrus to notes of honey, hazelnut and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is distinguished by its roundness and exceptional length. The structure is enveloping, with a perfect integration of freshness and complexity, culminating in a long and persistent finish.
This wine is a magnificent example of the terroir of Corton-Charlemagne, reflecting Domaine Bruno Clair's care and expertise in vineyard cultivation and winemaking. It is ideal with fish dishes, shellfish, white meats and soft cheeses.
