Coteaux Champenoise 2018 Fleury
Fleury Winery's 2018 Coteaux Champenois Rouge is a red wine produced in the Champagne region of France. It is made from Pinot Noir from the oldest vines of the estate, plants with an average age of about 50 years. Both in the vineyard and in the winery are followed principles of biodynamic agriculture, which Fleury winery started to apply in 1970, before it became a trend.
For this reason Fleury is considered a reference in the area for the production of biodynamic wines and Champagnes. This Coteaux Champenois Rouge ferments with maceration on the skins for 15 days, and ages in oak barrels for 1 year.
It is a red wine that for its cleanliness and finesse reminds one of a Burgundy Pinot Noir: it expresses complex aromas of berries, violets, spices and a hint of leather and wax on the nose, for a fresh and mineral taste with strong tannins, softened by fruity aromas. Needs a few years of aging before achieving greater balance, but is undoubtedly a surprising Coteaux Champenois.
