Côtes du Jura "Grusse En Billat" Magnum 2011 Ganevat
The wines of Ganevat are true oenological gems sought after by wine enthusiasts the world over. Grusse En Billat is a French white wine made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from the vineyard of the same name, which extends over just 1.8 hectares. The soil on which these over 50 year old vines stand is composed of schist and marl, giving the wine a precious minerality and power.
The Côtes du Jura "Grusse En Billat" is produced from grapes that are strictly hand-cultivated. Neither in the vineyard nor in the cellar are chemical products permitted and the intervention, when necessary, is exclusively manual. After harvesting, the grapes are taken to the cellar where they are fermented with indigenous yeasts in 500-litre wooden barrels. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for two years in 300-litre Tonneau barrels.
The "Grusse En Billat" is the most mineral wine of the Ganevat product line. It appears in the glass as a bright golden yellow accompanied by notes of lemon and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is lively and streamlined, with a beautiful savoury note accompanying the entire sip.
A monumental wine that can be compared to the great whites of Burgundy.
