Dolcetto d'Alba "Treiso" 2016 Fontanafredda
The 2016 Dolcetto d'Alba "Treiso" by Fontanafredda embodies the essence of Piedmontese winemaking tradition, sourced from the vineyards of Treiso. The vines, trained in the Guyot system at a density of 4,600 plants per hectare, thrive on compact calcareous soils typical of mid-altitude hills with south and east exposures.
Dolcetto grapes are harvested in mid-September. The winemaking process involves careful fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of 24-25 °C for 7-10 days, followed by malolactic fermentation. After a short period in stainless steel tanks, the wine is bottled in the spring following the harvest and released after 1-2 months of refinement.
In the glass, the wine boasts a brilliant ruby red color with violet reflections. The bouquet is intense, vinous, and fruity, offering remarkable freshness and persistence. On the palate, the Dolcetto "Treiso" is dry, well-structured, harmonious, and velvety, with a distinctive almond finish that enhances its appeal.
This wine's versatility makes it an excellent companion to a variety of dishes. It pairs wonderfully with warm appetizers, flavorful pasta dishes, vegetables, and light meats, making it ideal for both everyday meals and casual dinners.
