Etna Rosso Contrada Diciassettesalme 2020 Cottanera
Etna Rosso 'Contrada Diciassettesalme' 2020 is a red wine produced by the Cottanera winery. It is produced from pure Nerello Mascalese grapes, and is a "volcanic" wine in all respects, endowed with unique territoriality and personality.
The grapes come from vineyards located at an altitude of 750 metres above sea level, on an area of volcanic-alluvial matrix, from which derives the distinctly mineral aromatic profile of this Etna Rosso.
The wine ferments at a controlled temperature with constant pumping over and punching down, and after malolactic fermentation in large French oak barrels, it remains there to age for a period of 8 months.
Cottanera's Etna Rosso "Contrada Diciassettesalme" 2020 shows a ruby red colour to the eye, while the nose expresses a bouquet that opens with fruity aromas of small berries and brambles that evolve into mineral hints of lava stone. In the mouth it is medium-bodied, structured, with medium tannin and a long, savoury finish. A worthy representative of Etna's terroir, this wine needs a few years of bottle ageing before expressing its 'volcanic soul' to the full.
