Munjebel Rosso CD Calderara Sottana 2018 Cornelissen 

Munjebel Rosso CD Calderara Sottana 2018 is a red wine produced using natural methods by Cornelissen. It is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes from vines more than 40 years old growing at altitudes of about 600 m.

The vines grow in the northern valley of Etna, in particular in the vineyard in the contrada Calderara Sottana, located in the Randazzo district on the border with Castiglione di Sicilia. This area is particularly suitable for the cultivation of vines because the soil is made up of many small stones that are able to absorb heat and release it during the coldest hours of the year.

As a result, it enjoys a greater reputation and the wines grown in this area are in greater demand. The Munjebel Rosso CD Calderara Sottana 2018 is a refined and feminine Etna wine, which can also develop great power in the best vintages.

Frank Cornelissen is the reference point of Sicilian Etna wine, his natural wines tell the full story of the terroir from which they are born. His production philosophy is based on the non-intervention in the vineyard and in the cellar, for his natural Sicilian wines no additives or sulphur dioxide are used, the fermentation is spontaneous and the vinification takes place in terracotta jars buried in the lava stone. 

"Before being good a wine must be true" this is his philosophy, so important that it is engraved at the entrance of his cellar, in the North side of Etna.
