Munjebel Rosso PU Puntalazzo 2018 Cornelissen
Munjebel Rosso PU Puntalazzo 2018 is a red wine produced using natural methods by Cornelissen. It is the only one of the wines made from a single vineyard that comes from the eastern rather than the northern valley in the hamlet of Puntalazzo in the municipality of Mascali. The nerello mascalese that is harvested from this vineyard is almost all used for the production of rosé wine, but when the grapes manage to reach an adequate degree of ripeness, this red wine of great elegance, finesse and fragrance is produced.
According to the philosophy adopted by Belgian Frenk Cornelissen, based on total respect for nature and the balance between it and the hand of man, he chooses not to use any chemical substances and to apply minimal interventions both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in glass-resin vats with maceration on the skins for 50 days. The wine then matures for 18 months in glass-resin vats plus 18 months in the bottle and is bottled without filtration or sulphites. The decision not to use wood for ageing is made to ensure that the wine reflects as faithfully as possible the characteristics of the terroir of origin.
